Yeah, good question. It may have something to do with the heavy atmosphere composed almost entirely of carbon dioxide, the sulfur dioxide rain that constantly pounds the surface, or perhaps the balmy Venusian surface temperature of 825°F.
Wait...heavy carbon dioxide clouds and sulfuric rains...did I just predict the weather for Salt Lake in the year 2045?

For perspective on that chart, a Tigress class 500,000 Dton ship is about the same mass as a Galaxy class federation starship (Enterprise from The Next Generations). You can see it on the chart, far right side about 75% up. Your current scout ship would be almost invisible on this chart.
