Epic Sword Dueling Montage
We all know them. We all love them. Those crazy over-the-top sword fights that Hollywood churns out. Most of them are worthy of the dust bin or perhaps as humorous conversation for a group of D&D nerds. (Not GURPS. We never talk about stuff like that. ) There are however some good ones to be found and this video does a good job of mixing them together from the start to the bloody finish.

Ok I'll admit that that was truly epic. Based off of my penchant for fantasy role playing and my previous affiliation with a fencing club, you might have not known that I enjoy sword play and its related forms (e.g. spears, bows, etc). Movies, obviously, are another outlet of creativity for those aficionados of the blade.
Although I would include some of the movies presented in this video as belonging in the cinematographic dustbin (Highlander? Really? Worst Swordplay Ever. Except for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.) Although I didn't care much for the second Hellboy, I really, really liked the portrayal of the Elf prince. Splitting a drop of water as it falls? Awesome. Too bad he never learned to look behind him...
I was also pleased to see The Duelist in there. That's one of those period pieces that is more about the characters than the actual fighting. I liked it. Errol Flynn? If he were not included the word "Epic" could not have been used.

Yeah. Highlander and the Indiana Jones movie that shall not be named were not perhaps the best of choices. But they were recognizable and so I suppose that's why they made the cut. (The video also contained some Star Wars prequel clips too if you recall.)
I'm a little sad they included only a small handful of old movie sword fights. No Zorro, no old pirate movies, nothing from The Court Jester for crying out loud. Perhaps that could be the sequel video.

I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. There are no Star Wars prequels. I recall that awhile back there was some talk about shooting episodes 1 through 3, but that was never done.

Oh yes. I do recall a few years ago, an individual named George Lucas coming forward claiming he had filmed the first three Star Wars films. But the movies were rejected by the fan community, and their maker turned out to be a womp rat in disguise looking to make a quick buck. Those were dark times indeed.
